From the Wheeling News-Register: WHEELING (Mar. 15, 2019) — Local band Zane Run is appearing tonight at River City Restaurant in Wheeling where they will be performing another high-energy, multi-genre stage show featuring their brand new single, “If I Don’t Die in West Virginia.”
The single—the first with the newly-revamped Zane Run lineup—is described by co-writer and lead vocalist Chase Berkey as a love letter to West Virginia.
“As I was driving home from my job after a brutally long day in the oil field, our drummer and song co-writer, Dean Connors, asked me if I would make it to rehearsal that night,” Berkey said. “I jokingly replied, ‘yes, if I don’t die in West Virginia.’ Something clicked with us, and a few writing sessions later, our heartfelt love letter to this beautiful state was born.”
Soon after its’ video debut, the song quickly gained traction throughout West Virginia and a multi-state region, and is poised to go viral. It will soon be heard on radio and is currently available worldwide on Amazon, iTunes, Pandora and other digital outlets.
According to Connors, the band was named in honor of Revolutionary War heroine Betty Zane’s famous run for gunpowder through hostile fire during the Siege of Fort Henry at Wheeling in 1782.
“The name was chosen, not just as an homage to Zane’s historic feat, and the tenacity and never-say-die attitude that she exhibited,” Connors said. “But also to the people of this valley, who exemplify those same traits today. We were born here and we’ve chosen to stay here. This valley is inside of us, and we reflect that in our music.”
